Hiking up to one day is moderate, trails and trekking longer than one day are difficult pathes and demanding. On these trekking-trails we explore the surroundings around our lodges in a circumference up to 30 km. Usually Orang-Utan, Gibbon, Siamang, Maquaqes, small mammals, reptiles, butterflies, many kinds of birds (eagles, hornbills, kingfishers, pheasants, parrots) can be seen frequently. Certainly the tiger is always around us, but it is very difficult to spot him, except his traps. Orchids and rare flowers like the giant Rafflesia, Amorphophallus (largest flower in the world) and pitcher plants are very common. This homepage is designed, organized and financed by Siegfried Klein. He is sponsor to Rainforest Lodge Kedah, but not operator of tours and treks. Mr. Jally and his team are offering treks with real adventure and they are doing a great job. They give a tremendous contribution helping to preserve the last pristine rainforests on Sumatra. With this homepage we want to promote the great job of this team of indigenious Gayo-People to enable them to succeed with their great idea in preserving their last rainforests. Without foreign adventurers and wildlife-watchers this project most likely might fail. Our treks are not for ordinary tourists, but for freaks in excellent health and doing frequent sport activities. You will come to your limit on long term treks, but you will enjoy watching wildlife and nature at its sources. At present, Mr. Jally and team are the only operators with modern equipment in this area, such as tents, sleeping-bags, radio for emergency calls, bagpacks.     Nevertheless you must be aware, it can take up to one week or longer to evacuate you from jungle in case of emergency and get you to next good hospital to Medan or further for treatment. Fortunately until today we did not have even slight injuries or emergency cases. Mr. Siegfried Klein is not operator of this tours and so he will not be responsible or liable for any accidents, injuries and/or casualties, occurring during treks or transfers. He is supporting Mr. Jally with public relation, logistics, mail-box and communication, since the operators neither can afford this, nor do they have abilities and facilities to do so. Interested persons should be aware of above mentioned facts. But we did not mention them, to discourage you from visiting Gunung Leuser Trekking. Since access even from Medan is one day transfer, we want no one to waste his time or money, visiting Rainforest Lodge Kedah under wrong assumptions or aspects. This is supposed to be an invitation to all adventurers, looking for the real kick and ultimate boundary. Mr. Jally is a certified and famous guide, as well as an accepted authority person in the district of Gayo Lues. Trekking with him and his team means direct support in sustainable protection and conservation of forests and wildlife in above mentioned district.
