 Mr. Jally as well as Johan and their teams are offering treks with real adventure and they are doing a great job. They give a tremendous contribution helping to preserve the last pristine rainforests on Sumatra. Mr. Jally and Johan both are educated, certified and experienced guides.
With this homepage we want to promote the great job of their teams of indigenious Gayo-People to enable them to succeed with their great idea in preserving their last rainforests.
Without foreign adventurers and wildlife-watchers this project most likely might fail. Our treks are not for ordinary tourists, but for freaks in excellent health and doing frequent sport activities. You will come to your limit on long term treks, but you will enjoy watching wildlife and nature at its sources.
At present, Mr. Jally and team are the only operators with modern equipment in this area, such as tents, sleeping-bags, radio for emergency calls, bagpacks. Also Johan at Ketambe has sophisticated new equipment including new rafting boat. During 2010 we will provide to him also radio facilities. |

Nevertheless you must be aware, it can take up to one week or longer to evacuate you from jungle in case of emergency and get you to next good hospital to Medan or abroad for further treatment.
Fortunately until today we did not have even slight injuries or emergency cases.

Interested persons should be aware of above mentioned facts. But we did not mention them, to discourage you from visiting Gunung Leuser Trekking. Since most of our guests have long-distance-flights to reach us and even access from Medan is one more day transfer, we want no one to waste his time or money, visiting Rainforest Lodges Kedah and Ketambe upon wrong assumptions or expectations. |

This is supposed to be an invitation to all adventurers and lovers of nature, looking for tremendous Biodiversity, the real kick or ultimate boundaries. Mr. Jally and Johan both are certified and famous guides, as well as accepted authority persons in their communities and the districts of Gayo Lues and Aceh Tengara. Trekking with them and their teams means direct support to sustainable protection and conservation of forests and wildlife in above mentioned districts.
For all treks, longer than 3 days, you should be in very good physical condition! Check first with your doctor!
 Treks and expeditions will be in pristine rainforest at high humidity, daily rainfalls, with climbing very steep hills, on slippery ground, at altitudes from 400 – 3.500 m.
You are guided by Mr. Jally and Johan, as well as their staff. Jally and Johan are certainly among the most famous guides in Gunung Leuser Eco System, educated, trained and certified. You will be accompanied by porters, according to requirement. |
